He is amazing. I remember finding out we were studying Beowulf in a college class and being irritated because I wasn't a huge epic poetry fan and wasn't really interested in Beowulf the last time I had studied it. But as I started reading, I was so moved and intrigued by the translation we were reading by Seamus Heaney. Every line became important, every description gripping. It was an incredible experience.

I love Seamus Heaney. Especially the poem "Digging". One of my best friends is Irish, and really loves his poetry too!
C, Thank you for resonating with this passage too. It has defined my entire week. Seamus, he da man.
What a great poem--simple and powerful, no frills.
