On the appropriately named, Labor Day, a few close friends and colleagues gave me a Blessingway as ritual preparation for birth. You can read more about Blessingways here. I'm definitely feeling full and ready.
This is so inspiring and inspired. I hope everyone in our family and your circle of contacts will follow your lead. Great photos, and your belly is more beautiful than words.
I love the whole idea of the blessingway. You have been in my thoughts constantly these last few days, Celeste. As I hold Piper, I've been remembering her birth and remembering these finals days before she came--they were magical and surreal and beautiful. It makes me get all teary thinking of it and you going through the same thing this beautiful time of year. I am so excited and happy for you. Just so sad that I won't be there to love her little body up! I will be there in spirit, I promise!
Celeste, thanks for sharing a little of this with us who are far away.
Before Ellis was born, the women in my support circle at the time gave me a lovely shower where we sat together and ate good food while they each took turns giving me words of encouragement about myself and about the process of giving birth. They also wrote down all those thoughts. Presents were there and much appreciated, but they were not the main attraction. It was such a lovely peaceful event for me.
I loved reading more about blessingways and am inspired to give my loved ones this kind of attention at crucial transitions in life. I firmly believe that every change in life brings mourning for what's past and hope for what's to come.
So, was Matt there? Did you choose to include the men? :)
I heard the report from Paula that baby is head down and in good position. We're so happy for you each individually and as a family. I'm excited to have a new girl in the family and to have a name to call her at last.

Amen to the above. What a wonderful gift you were given.
