Matt is teaching summer school these next two weeks and needs some ideas on good books for high school summer slackers. They are reading The Tempest right now. Any ideas?
This study guide gives some great ideas and even includes just a few YA authors who are making their way finally into "classic" status and would probably pass as acceptable for the tests you have to teach to.

The Outsiders? Catcher in the Rye? As I recall some slacking occurred in those books...
As long as you don't read Faulkner, the kids will love it.
